With rising temperatures now in Europe it’s nice to have airconditioning in your Land Rover. We’ve fitted a modified kit into a 200Tdi Defender. The kit designed for 300Tdi and Td5 did need some modifications to get in:
- narrow pulley on compressor pump to take the 200Tdi 13mm belt (Fendt tractor part)
- narrow idler / tensioner (standard LR part)
- home made bracket for compressor pump
- modified pipes & hoses
The 200Tdi engine is located closer to the bulkhead, the 300Tdi is positioned more to towards the front of the vehicle. Changing the pipework has been the most difficult part, this has been left to the a/c professionals. Fitting the rest of the kit is not much of a complicated job, most enthusiasts will be able to fit the kit. However designing a strong bracket does require some welding skills…
